All fifth grade families should have received their welcome letters from our team by now. We are so excited that we have been already busy preparing for you - even though we officially don't report for another week!

Our classroom is coming along, and will look quite different to older Diamonds. The biggest change? Well, you will just have to come and see for yourself...

Yesterday, it was announced that Georgia will NOT be giving our students the highly anticipated PARCC assessments, which were to be administered for the first time in the year-2014-2015. Instead, Georgia will be creating and administering its own test, which will have both paper-and pencil and computerized versions. This leaves Georgia some flexibility in altering the CCGPS (the Common Core state curriculum) as it sees fit. To read more about this, please visit the Georgia Department of Education website.

Classroom Mini-Makeover

After looking at all the wonderful new ideas on Pinterest (thanks, Ms. Thomas, for creating a monster), I have decided to give my classroom a mini-makeover. After navigating through "The Maze" last year as my students called it, I have decided to give up my teacher desk and one group table. After having 30 students per class, I really need more space and organization.

I have recruited a few rising 6th graders to help out with the project this month. The photo above is how the room looks now on the freshly waxed floor. Stay tuned for the reveal when it is all done.
